Distracted

I feel like I have some explainin’ to do. For the one or two people who might look here expecting to see fresh material… well, I’ve been distracted.

Who do I blame first? There’s “the kid,” our high school freshman, who takes his own special brand of care and feeding. Then there’s the dog, who’s all about care and (especially) feeding. There’s my side gig as a writer (see http://www.ciconline.org/profiles and http://www.ciconline.org/teachingtips for some examples). And then there’s down time and distractions like cooking, reading, the Cape – much needed, never enough.

So, writing a blog, even occasionally, is on the back burner. Not forgotten; just not that high on the to-do list.

But, please do check back every once in a while. You (and I) might be surprised.

Mark Twain’s Following the Equator
Youngme Moon’s Different

Recent CD buys: Alejandro Escovedo (solid but slick), Cheryl Crow (funky chic), Los Lobos (masterful), Squeeze (they still rock), Eric Clapton (barely has a pulse), Brian Wilson’s Gershwin tribute (weirdly brilliant)

Sports:
Walking the dog
Watching the Celtics

Thankless Tasks:
Finally restoring over 2,000 songs lost when my hard drive crashed last year.

One last distraction: My favorite photo from this summer, of the sky shortly before a big storm swept onto the Cape.
